Our group departed from Niccioleta (near Massa Marittima) this morning more or less on time, despite some trailer troubles (one of our
horses revealed that she really doesn't like having the top part of the
door to the trailer closed during travel - this is news to us!). The
weather today was amazing - perfect blue sky and sunshine with temps
about 10°C.
The trails are clear and picturesque... our group stopped
for some photos of the Maremman cattle and enjoyed a view out to the ocean from the Nature Reserve "Cornate e Fosini."
All horses and riders arrived in Montieri in good condition (a bit
sweaty and hungry but overall in very good spirits!) Dinner was a
relaxed affair with gnocchi made with chestnut flour, tagliatelle with wild mushrooms, roasted meats and a dessert of cantucci and vin santo. Now the horses are calmly eating the night away and our riders have fallen into bed to refresh for tomorrow's ride to San Galgano!
