New Year's Resolutions?

It's the 1st day of the 1st month of a new year... and while many of us slept in this morning and have therefore lost most of the day, this is a symbolic day for many of us. The past 12 months are over and we've closed the door on the bad habits, bad choices and hardships that have taken place. We look to the future with bright eyes, full of the cheer of the holiday season and we can't help but think "This year will be better!" As a result, many of us make some personal promises that we call New Year's Resolutions that, if followed, we believe will improve our chances for success over the next 12 months and we are then hopeful and optimistic about our future. That's nice, isn't it?

If you're one of those people, make sure you check out some other resources that provide advice for keeping those resolutions because we all know that the success rate of our resolutions is, well, pretty depressing. It's actually being quite cruel to ourselves when we make these resolutions because when we invariably can't meet our lofty goals, we feel badly about it. Making New Year's Resolutions is like trying to run a marathon without doing any training!

So if you want to be hopeful about your future, why not make a New Day's Resolution? Each day when you wake up, make a promise to yourself for that day: I will spend 15 minutes playing with my children with no other distractions; I will go for a 20 minute walk before lunch; I will call a friend instead of lighting up that cigarette; I will turn off my phone during supper time; I will save money today by taking the bus instead of driving the car.

Don't try to renovate your life, body and personality . that's the marathon approach and it takes a LOT of hard work. Instead, do a little training each day by making a different, small, achievable goal and giving yourself a hearty pat on the back when you live up to that promise. You can be proud of yourself and you'll be making little changes that may even become habit naturally.

And make sure that a visit to 75 Avventura is one of those daily resolutions :)
